I have never seen that type of decomposition in the ply system of fiberglass shingles.Again would have loved to have my camera there to take photo to start my own material defect library.
I laid fiberglass shingles many times in the early 2000’s. I was trying out the product after a small introduction from the box store I shopped at.
The rep. was giving a demo on application and longevity. The sales pitch.
I stop after the temperature dropped down below 5 degrees centigrade.
At zero,they became to brittle and the caps would split when forcing the contour of the ridge or hip. To much wastage from labor and to time consuming.
Had a 2k nose surgery last year to remove a lesion. Made me a real believer in Sun Block
I’m 58, 35 years working outside, 20 yrs in southern CA. Went to a dermatologist for the first time last summer. He told me to always wear sun block on exposed skin and a wide brim hat outside or I was going to develop real problems.
Optometrist said always wear sunglasses outside to prevent further sun damage to your eyes.
UV’s a killer.
