Roof Shingles Unknown?

Inspectors,

I Inspected a 64 year old home today. The sellers said they have a slate roof, (original roof) upon inspection; The roof material is not slate. I’ve not seen this material before. It is grayish to light brown in color, hard and rigid, some kind of composite material, fibers in the material, possible fiber glass or asbestos, they are a standard size shingle.

I need help in determining the roofing material (name) and info on it?

Thanks,

John

John, please post a picture so someone can help you easier.

John,

Hard to tell from your no-pic

but may be this

A picture would certainly help, but on a property of that age I’d place a good sized bet on it being asbestos cement shingle.

Your link was perfect… That’s exactly what I needed.
