Exactly…pretty simple.
I don’t worry too much about them unless they are less than 3" in diameter and the load that is on them is such that it should be the standard Lally column. Some of these heavy duty ones are capable of 18,000 lb.'s with a 1" screw.
Hell, they are all over the place. Have not heard of any to collapse yet.
I have seen some that are only 2" telescope and bowed in the middle due to load. Then I call it out.
