I need some information on this vent pipe setup please-
one story house built on a slab
picture uploads not working right now for some reason....
here is the description- a normal washer drain with a trap and then a drain pipe with a vent stack. On the 2 1/2 " vent stack pipe about 5 feet up it has a wye to another 2 1/2 pipe that just goes back into the slab...
There is a sink and toilet within 8-10 feet of this that has no visible venting.

Any place there is a drain there has to be a trap to keep sewage fumes from entering through the drain. Just downstream from the trap there should be a vent which provides a route for the fumes to escape. If there is no floor drain, no vent would be necessary. (Where does the relief valve from the water heater point? If its to the floor it should be within 10’ of a floor drain…plumbing gurus tell me if i’m wrong.) Is this slab on grade? Rats, I thought I was going to solve your problem so simply.

ok, just re-read your first post. It could be the vent from the toilet???. I think code gives you about 5’ to the vent from the trap. Maybe the plumber figured, if the toilet was vented then so was the sink???
I'm not a plumber....just remembering the code from when I plumbed my own house. One water-closet I installed was about 7' from the vent.....the inspector allowed it anyway.
