I noticed this board has been somewhat deserted lately. I am assuming that being so close to the holidays home sales are temporarily lagging. At least I hope thats all it is, for 2 reasons. I have a house on the market for a very fair price yet there have been few lookers. Also, the housing business fuels my business as an electrician.

And the Electrical question is ???
There isn't one. I come around this board to help some of the HIs with their questions and to learn more about HIs since I work with them all the time. HI's and Sparkies don't always get along too well, I am trying to help change that. I guess I've annoyed you with my query or maybe I am not as welcome here as I thought I was. Just say the word and I'll never bother you again, no skin off my nose.

Brian,
David posted that because this is an Electrical Thread meant for electrical topics. I don't beleive anyone was annoyed. Well I can't really say that for sure, but try not to take it as a personal attack and get defensive. All are ussually welcomed here. Well, there might be a few that aren't. But my point is lighten up. Be Happy.

Jay, there’s several variations of 3 way setups, however if you follow these 3 steps, it will work. (1), put the line on the common of switch #1. (2), put the load on the common of switch #2, and (3), put the remaining wires (travellers) on the remaining screws in any order.
Sometimes you will have the line and load in the same box, sometimes line and load will be in separate boxes, sometimes you will have the line at the load and one of the switches will be a "dead end". For each situation, follow the 3 steps and it will work.

thanx Brian. for the most part all the ones i've done (about 12 or 15) the second switch was an after thought and the just snaked a piece of romex in the overhead and that was that. but at least now i have a set rule. thanx
