Software Bitchin'

I long for the old days when you could buy software, own it and only change it if you want too. Now you either have to pay monthly, per inspection and/or pimp your client info. ISN AP (after Porch) does all of that. I use ISN and regret it more everyday. When Porch bought ISN I knew that eventually they would take my client info and market to them or make us pay more. So, they gave us an opt-out and offered a discount if we “op-in” (essentially pay more…). Most didn’t opt-in because we still want to protect our customers. Now ISN gets around it by pushing their Porch-app when you send the client the report. They are shysters but we need another option similar to ISN BP (Before Porch).

Software companies need recurring revenue, just like everyone else. Even more so nowadays when they are required to keep abreast of quickly changing device tech.

And you can change the Report Delivery page! Simply contact their customer service or Stacy Rose via the ISN site or email and ask for that to be removed from the email that is sent.

Nobody is forced and your client must select the “Porch” link which has a good amount of additional information and benefits for them or they can select to go directly to the report.

That is fine. I would rather pay for upgrades if I need them. But usually I don’t. These upgrades have been too numerous and they are causing performance problems.

However, they should not have added it without my consent. I opted out of Porch when they first started.

That is why I use HIP.

I use ISN for scheduling and sending confirmation emails and agreements only, I send all my reports through my email, not ISN, so, at least as of now I haven’t had any Porch problems being that I also have opted out.

As for inspection software, I use 3D. I own it and can make any changes at anytime I want. I pay them a fee of $149.00 a year for use of their cloud services, for technical support if needed, which the last time I needed support was I think 4 years ago that was for a microsoft cloud problem and not a 3D issue, and for any upgrades that might happen, although there hasn’t been an upgrade in years.

Oh, and I still have every single report, picture, and any other related client materials stored on my computer, so I can access everything, anytime, without worrying about someone denying me access, or threatening to deny me access, for any particular reason.

Just like Roy mentioned, HIP is not just report software. They also have office software…

Switch over to NXT Inspekt. Yes they are owned by porch now, but they do not in any way integrate with porch. Clients info is safe. If you sign up give them my name and we both get a free month. NXT Inspekt is much easier to use than ISN. And only $3.00 per inspection up to 50 a month, then it goes down in cost. They integrate with guardian, and few report writer programs. I have been using it for 3 years now and only a couple issues from time to time.
It can’t hurt to check it out it will cost you nothing to try.

You should check out NXT Inspekt. Much easier to use than ISN and cheaper. Save yourself some money and check it out. Mention me and get a free month and I will too.

Come on over.

ISN was a little too pushy with the sales tactics. I’ve been using Eneris trial for now. I really look into the posts with these bits of info about software and business tactics.

Hadn’t heard of that one before. Had to go look it up. Thanks for sharing!

I’m surprised Nxt only does the pay-per inspection model. I would think that prices them out of a lot of the higher volume inspectors.

Porch did the same to me with the ISN.
As it was stated below I spoke with them to opt out. I don’t want my clients to have to figure out
Which thing to choose etc. I just want them to be able to open their reports easily. I had some clients all the sudden before , start telling me they couldn’t open the report even though they downloaded my app. Ticked me off. Then my report was in tiny letters at the bottom of the page and it looked as if they needed to open it in Porch.

So does anyone just email out a PDF as the output of the report software?

I don’t like to do that due to the size of reports but I have sent links to the report for downloading.

I print my reports from my software into a pdf and email it to my client through my company email/outlook.

I use HIP. Paid for is 6 years ago for about $700 and only have to pay the $20/month for cloud service. Not sure what they charge now but I love it!

I email the report link through ISN but have realized now that several clients want to call years later for an old report for whatever reason and I can’t supply it to them. The links only work for 1 year. It’s worth saving a copy as pdf for those types of situations.
