I wear a pair of Red Wings for inspections. If it is wet, snowy, etc., I take a pair of jogging shoes to wear in the house. If it’s dry, I use Tyvek shoe covers. I’ve found them to be alot more reliable than the hospital covers.

Brooks Beast’s for me, I get a new pair each year. They work well on tile roofs, you can wear any thing on asphalt shingle roofs here as they are never very steep.

I do NOT use them to get on a steeper roof, I use them to be SAFER on a roof I would have walked in normal boots anyway.
Make sure you size them for a tight fit, if they are even a little bit loose roof walks are much harder on the ankles and calves.

Bad back, bad knees, bruised heel bones…only boots, shoes, sneakers I can wear and have no discomfort.

I usually wear my Korkers, I use them for Steelhead fishing in the Salmon river in NY. They strap right onto my regular shoes and the carbide tips make it easy to traverse any pitched roof.
You guys don’t happen to own roofing companies, do you?
No joke, there was a roofing contractor who interviewed with my old boss about 8 years ago who bragged that none of his guys ever fell off a roof because he made them wear crampons. Needless to say, he never laid a shingle on one of my projects.

My choice for roofs are boat shoes. They’re light and the soles have traction wet or dry.
