Stop exposing your Venmo activity…

…. - by changing this privacy setting. Here’s why:`

You’re probably revealing more information than you realize when you use Venmo.

Why go private? Alex Beaty warns that “online trolls, stalkers, ex-spouses, [and] law enforcement” could easily access, and potentially exploit not only your contact lists, but your friends’ contact lists" if they’re also set to “Public” — which is Venmo’s default setting.

Good info Larry. I don’t use them and probably won’t ever.

Good heads up info Larry!

I have mine set to private. No transactions I have with customers are shared amongst others.
It is amazing that VENMO even allows transactions to be public, but I know what you are talking about. I can see all these transactions between people that I’m not even directly associated with. (none are my customers). Not sure why people want others to see all this personal info…Such as whom they shared the cost of a pizza or even for “hookers and blow”.

I will have to admit that probably about 50% of my inspections are paid thru Venmo, as I as well as my customers find it the best way to make a payment when they are not attending the inspection, Which is the norm. I do offer a discount when using Venmo…saves us both the high fees of using credit cards.

PayPal is now accepting payment through Venmo, so I’ll stick with PayPal and let my Venmo clients pay me through them.

One and the same. PayPal owns Venmo!

And the reason it’s integrated maybe? I don’t know if PayPal is associated with Larry’s OP, but if so, I’ll have to look into it further…

I don’t trust Venmo, never have. It is absolutely insane that you can see what transactions people on your contact list are making. Some people tell me even with their account set on “Private” some transactions are still seen by others. Zelle is a much better option. A lot of my clients use this and its available through just about every bank.
