Student Discussion: Advanced Electrical Inspection Training Course

Hello

Hello

Ready

Watched the videos and I just loved how thorough the presentations were. The difference I noticed with my jurisdiction (Kenya) is that the color code is different. However it is straight forward because but I can relate the difference and adjust.

Technically, the manufacturers will never tell you their products have a life span. In fact, it is something that is quite frankly not discussed. However, the aging process is evident in electrical equipment upon inspection so technically you can make that call on the fly depending on the condition of the electrical equipment being inspected. As for the 10 AWG on a 50 AMP breaker, it is quite possible as you would look at the nameplate information which will tell you the minimum circuit size and the maximum overcurrent protection device size…this is developed from knowing the starting and running loads and so on. Just remember that you follow the manufacturers nameplate information and you will be fine. (if you need more elaboration than that let me know…I can bore you for hours on why it would be ok for the manufacturers to permit this)…as for the green tape part…well I am not sure where that is stated…chances are the image is showing you what NOT to do…versus saying it is ok.

The NEC permits you to re-identify white conductors as ungrounded conductors under specific conditions…for cables only in accordance with section 200.6 and 200.7. So unless I see the actual information you are speaking of I will assume you have misspoken on that part.
