Switch ok for disconnect?

I would be concerned if the switch is not rated at the same amperage as the Max breaker size for the unit.


Since I will not open the box to examine the switch I would have to list it as a "potential" safety hazard and recommend it be examined by an electrician to determine that it is properly rated or recommend any changes, prior to running the A/C.

I’ve seen those switches on multi-family units, appears to be heavy duty and ok for smaller units.

The primary purpose is to be able to service the unit from the outside so as long as the rating is proper it is probably OK. I just wouldn't be the one to say that for sure.
