I want to thank Joe Tedesco for doing the class on electrical inspections in Baltimore today. While I felt “like a monkey looking at a math problem” most of the day. I think that a lot of people who attended got some great info out of it.

I also want to thank Walter Smittle of the National Association of State Fire Marshalls, he did about an hour on the new Arc Fault Circuit Breakers. Walter is very entertaining, however, he does have some fire storys that will make your blood curl. The NACHI Foundation, NACHI and his group are going to work on a formal partnership to support these new breakers in houses.

Next, I have to tell everyone that Earl Beahm, who John Bowman and I messed with all night friday and saturday is the perfect canidate for the NACHI makeover that they are doing. He is very well spoken, can take criticism and being picked on and still keeps going.

It was a good day, thanks to everyone who came. Hopefully when John Bowman gets back to NY tommorow, he will post some pictures.

Gary:

Thanks for the kind words and report. I enjoyed the entire day and was impressed with the questions and some of the experiences that the group shared with me.

We had some really new inspectors there, and they seemed to run out of yellow paper, writing and writing and taking notes. As far as the electrical systems, a few said they had no clue about the electrical systems and wanted to learn!

I am enthused and will re write and revise the first edition of my pocket book: "Basic Checklists for Building Electrical Inspections" to "Home Inspectors Electrical Inspection Checklists"

The first seminar of this type was a great success, and meeting the members Gary, Dan Frend, and John Bowman was a pleasure.

John suggested a basic beginner, intermediate, and advanced training class schedule and that could work if the convention could be set up with some round tables for the inspectors to sit at for two hours at each of the discussions and review the procedures related to existing inspections.

All comments and suggestions will be appreciated!

I’m back from Baltimore. Great educational trip. Joe Tedesco’s training syllabus was one of the best I have witnessed. Their was no questioning his knowledge. The man is a walking encyclopedia of codes and procedures. His presentation was concise and to the point. His fielding of questions was impecable. A must have for all chapter meetings.

I'm trying to upload pictures, but I'm not having much success. Hope to be working with Joe T., on getting this done.

Fire Marshal (Ret) Walter Smittle frow West Virginia was a godsend. His presentation on Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters was both informative and entertaining. Thanks to Joe Tedesco for this valuable find. Again, if you can possibly schedule Mr. Smittle for chapter meetings, it is well worth it.

Meeting Gary Johnson, Joe Tedesco, Dan Frend, Tim Gardner, Dhiman Sojitra, and many many others. It was an honor and a privilege. Thank-you all for the wonderful time. Oh yea, I almost forgot about our NACHI "Poster Child" Earl Beahm. There is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be successful in his venture.

Education - A NACHI Inspector's best friend.

P.S. If I'm correct we formed our first Best Ball Golf Tournament Team for the NACHI Convention. Gary Johnson, Earl Beahm, Tim Gardner, and me. All challenges will be met. Any takers.

I had a great time meeting all the fine people I see on here. Thanks Joe for the great instruction. I would agree we need a beginners version as that lesson may have been a little advanced. I learned alot.

Also, Walter Smittle will be doing a presentation during the class I will be teaching at the convention. He has also agreed to share his eye opening presentation on AFCI's with us. As soon as I get it I will post it. We will be working out details for a partnership with NASFM (National Association of State Fire Marshal's).

And I must agree the so called "poster boy" is a great pick for the makeover. Earl, If you need anything, feel free to contact me.

Thanks Dan:

I am working on a beginner's version of the seminar and Chris will be posting that information soon here on a NACHI Seminars site with additional information and my schedules and locations.

Actually, John Bowman suggested a beginner's version too, and we agreed that was necessary.

Later we can present intermediate and advanced versions.

I will be putting together information to be included in the seminar agenda.

As always any and all suggestions are welcomed!

Sorry it took so long for me to thank you Joe. After my 11 and 1/2 hour drive home on Sunday, an inspection and attending Code Class on Monday, I just got the time to get on the message board.

The class you taught was great and I learned a lot there as well as and in our discussion the night before. You really are the ultimate Sparky!

I'd also like to thank everyone else for being so kind, especially Gary Johnson, John Bowman, Tim Gardner and Dan Frend. Y'all really made me feel like part of the group and for that I'm truly grateful.

Thanks again to everyone,
Earl
