The thing about opinions is that you don’t need to know shit about what your talking about in order to express one.
You made a wrong assumption about a statement made by one of the committee members and made a smart assed reply and completely derailed a thread that had nothing at all to do with the award or the committee. You also started shit in another thread and accused me of being dishonest about my profile.
You’ve added little to nothing to the membership here, yet you want to challenge and belittle those who have literally answered thousands of questions and assisted hundreds of others here. You need to work on building your own credibility before you start challenging that of others. You’re running a pretty severe deficit as compared to those you choose to challenge.
Best to let it go until you at least have a clue as what you’re talking about. You owe that to yourself.
@mcyr - Why would you think I have not already read through those three threads? Admittedly not every post, but I am pretty sure stabbing my eyeballs with toothpicks would feel better (and probably just as productive)… but I read quite a few of the roughly 800 posts between the three threads. It took two more renditions of the award before y’all changed, so there is hope for the majority of the Association in 2022.
As one of the Officers of the committee, I would like to utilize a line out of your committee by-laws. Specifically: “The Awards Committee also evaluates awards and changes to guidelines proposed by members of InterNACHI and makes recommendation to the Awards concerning the proposals.”
As a member, in good standing, of InterNACHI I would like to request that the committee have an official discussion regarding my proposal of changing the name of the award to “InterNACHI Forum Member of the Year” as that has been clearly established as an eligibility requirement. I do not feel as though the request was properly vetted when I first proposed it based on the immediate negative feedback that I received to it from yourself. Just as a reminder, this is what you had to say…
(And just as a side note, I did not TELL the committee to do anything, I clearly stated it was a request.)
As this is part of the official by-laws, I think it is a fair request. You can let me know the official outcome once that meeting has been held.
I also have some questions for the committee. I have previously asked if there was a maximum length of time that Committee Members could serve and was told that there is not. So, question #1 - How long have each of the current members been on the committee?
Also, reading through the by-laws I see nothing that states the process for amendments to the by-laws. Which leads me to questions #2 & 3- What is considered a quorum for voting on amendments to the committee by-laws? Does the committee have full control of the rules and regulations that govern the committee?
Question #4 - Why can you not alter the nomination process to require those who nominate someone to provide additional details to support that nomination? If someone nominates Joe Smith saying that he is teaching classes, providing ride alongs to younger inspectors, making REAL change in the industry and representing InterNACHI as the gold standard, etc… seems that would be a pretty easy request to provide evidence of such.
@cevans - So, are you saying that no one has ever used sarcasm on this forum? Why would it be such a stretch of the imagination that it was a sarcastic comment based on the drama of the MOTY happenings of last year and the fact that few people inside of this forum knew or thought that Pat was worthy of the award?
As far as the screeenshot comparison that you provided regarding Larry and me… the number to look at is # of posts created divided by the # of likes received… if you go by that count. Larry gets one for every 14 posts and I get one for every 9.
… but the thing is neither of those numbers matter. With that logic, every inspector with 1000 inspections is better than every inspector with 100… and we all know there are plenty of guys just barely getting by ethically and legally.
and Larry is one of the good guys. I have messaged back and forth with him and apologized for my misunderstanding. He was very gentlemanly.
Once again, your lack of experience and awareness lead you to make erroneous assumptions. The post count includes the combined number of posts from both the current and previous versions of the forum. However, the ability to give a thumbs-up only pertains to posts made on the current forum (< 2yrs IIRC). If you look at any period that is limited to this version of the forum, you would see that Larry, not to mention the others, significantly outpace you. These are acknowledgements from the other members of the forum, not some mindless count. As I said, you’re running a pretty severe deficit.
Welcome to “Unconscious Incompetence”. If you pay attention and learn, you might soon come to realize how much you actually don’t know (i.e., Conscious Incompetence). At least at that stage, if you make it, you’ll be tolerable and able to learn. The Four Stages of Learning - Knowledge Direct Learning Management System
It’s typical childish behavior. When an unruly child repeatedly does not get what they want they gravitate to pouting, whining, crying, and any other behavior they feel will get the attention they can’t seem to live without. When that happens it’s best just to ignore them.

Larry is one of the GREAT guys. Observing the few posts from you, it seems like you are a too much ego twa. Larry is about sincerely helping people.
But hey, Good luck with all your online politicking
Difference being I am not trying to get anything for ME. I am trying to ensure parity and fairness to ALL members of InterNACHI. Not just those who hang out here.
All the naysayers can continue to think what they want, that is fine.
