An insurance policy is NOT a commodity. Unlike commodities, insurance policies are not the same product sold for different prices.

An insurance policy is a contract and, if you are a typical policy holder, it is a contract for tens of thousands of dollars, hundreds of thousands of dollars, or millions of dollars that you have entered - and never read.

Assuming that you have coverage for all the risks that threaten your assets can be financially devastating if your assumptions are incorrect. Compare coverages … not quotes.

Read your policy and make certain that you understand it before you need it. Ask your questions to the person who sold it to you in writing and file the written responses to them with your policy.

One more thing …a general rule of thumb is the cheaper the policy, the less coverage it provides. Insurance companies do not pay claims out of their pocket and what they do not charge you, they do not intend to pay you.
