TPR valves and what to look for

TPR valves are located on hot water tanks, boilers; Gas or Electric. They perform a safety function as to relieve pressure build up of the existing tank. Proper extension is also needed for diverting the pressure buildup to a safe location such as to the floor below the tank or to an area outside at a low point of the exterior wall. FYI I am doing these discussions as part of a class. I am new to the messaging board forum. Thx for all your input.

FYI… There is a specific section of the MB for posts such as yours. Please search them out and post there so as to avoid cluttering the sections used by working inspectors.

TPR valves are located on hot water tanks, boilers; Gas or Electric vs nuclear or solid fuel. They perform a safety function as to relieve pressure build up of the existing tank vs non existing tank. Proper extension or discharge pipe, tube, drain line? is also needed for diverting the pressure buildup or routed to a safe location such as to the floor below the tank or to an area outside at a low point of the exterior wall. FYI I am doing these discussions as part of a class. I am new to the messaging board forum. Thx for all your input.
