type b vent water heater clearence

using type b vent pipe for the water heater vent, isn’t the clearence to combustibles suppost to be 1" (one inch) or more?? and single wall is 6 inches ??


if it is one inch for type b vent what is the code number??

The clearance requirement is per its listing (manufacturers recommendations). One inch is typical although some are listed at 1 1/2".


The code "reference" is IRC2427.6.1 or UMC815.3.2.6 depending on your jurisdiction.
