Found this regarding Deal Killers. I found to be interesting, to say the least, with both HI’s (many of which belong here, including the OP) and REA’s commenting.
Hope you have at least half a day to spend reading
Thankfully, a pissant like you has no control over me. \:D/
I work for who ever I choose, I’m not for hire by anyone, nor will I ever be. Why would I pay the price be an independent home inspector and then saddle myself with the responsibility to cater to anyone, nope won’t ever happen at Square-One Inspection Service, LLC and never is a long time.
Yep, I got called that last week after pointing out the moisture damage below the shower was so advanced that the framing was literally gone in a 4 square foot area below it.
I’m not sure how an inspector with the “correct” level of thoroughness would report on that.
I wish I knew who she would use instead too. It was damage so dramatic and obvious only a blind inspector riding by on horseback at night wouldn’t see and report on it. I assume she was just displeased that the deal fell through and she was left with a home with a known and significant defect. It’s hard to be mad at a house but easy to be mad at an inspector.
I often thought about having one of my friends anonymously hire me to do an inspection and one of my competitors and then compare the results of a double-blind test.
You need to understand, it’s NOT the Inspector that “ruins the deal,” but the house. Please repeat this until you understand it. Any good REA gets this and they are grateful for the find now, rather than later by their client after they’ve moved in.
