I’m so confused right now. Kevin, I thought you switched to HomeGauge and were happy (despite your posts on their forum to the contrary)? I know my support staff was certainly happy about this. Why are you back using HIP and testing out the video feature.
You’ve made several comments here which could be true but no one else has had the issue and no one has reported them, including you. You’ve never called tech support about these issues. You haven’t emailed me, or support. You haven’t jumped on Live Help to chat about it. You haven’t posted on our forums. There’s a million ways to communicate to us about your issues but you choose to post here?
If you’re having an issue and it’s not being reported, how could we possibly help you fix it? Since no one else is having the issue (and tons of guys are using video).
More inaccurate information. HIP added video to mobile on android a month ago.
I never said HIP would have everything every other software program does immediately. We have tons of features the other guys don’t. They have some we don’t. HG and HIP are the only two that have video at all, meaning 18 other programs don’t have video at all. HG is 3 years behind us on an iPhone /iPad version. They were at least a year or two ahead of us on video. We keep adding video features, they just released an iOS version. We can edit photos on mobile, they can’t. There’s tons of examples of both. That’s how software works.
I have about 6000 inspectors making suggestions on our software Kevin. Even when you were a HIP user you never communicated any of your issues. When guys communicate we have to figure out which ideas will be used by the most guys to help prioritize issues. Home Inspector Pro is not dedicated to adding only what Kevin McGrath wants though!
Still super confused on why this conversation is already taking place though!
The reason 18 other programs is video is not all that important to a report.
I can create a video on you tube and add a link for that with no limitations if I decided to many years ago but for what ?
People have no time to sit watching vids nor does it act as a legal document in negotiation.
Just another bell and whistle really and long before Kevin joined NACHI I was one of the few who was enthusiastic about future video reports .
The only real use might be as a time saver to get non SOP material comments out of the way and save a little time for the lazy.
I can not count how many times I experimented with video on my own .
What does matter is half the guys are using i phone and i pad with HIP being the best option.
What does matter is the final product which is what the client actually sees.
HIP for mobile is fast as it gets if going that route.
Thanks for pointing out the bug about the video that doesn’t stop when you x out from the version we released a week or two ago. I’ll have that fixed and an update tonight or tomorrow. If you’d actually ever emailed or contacted us in any way it would have been fixed sooner.
HomeGauge has never had a bug or anything right? They pulled their entire iOS system for over a year after releasing it to the public as the whole program didn’t work. What you pointed out in your video is a small and extremely easy thing to fix. Bugs will exist in all software no matter how much we test, and release to beta testers to test. There’s nothing that can replace having thousands of people testing a program out on multiple different operating systems (something HG doesn’t have to worry about) to help issues come to light. What’s important is that bugs get resolved quickly.
By the way, our video takes slightly longer to convert as we do a lot more compression to shrink those videos down while still maintaining quality. That takes time.
I’m surprised you were in the military. I’ve never met anyone in the military as disrespectful as you. You cuss me out, you bad mouth your fellow inspectors in text and now on video. You even bad mouth the new software you’re switching to!
P.S. Since it seems you’re still using our software, you’re now four months behind on your billing. Normally your account would have been turned off but I thought I’d be nice since you were switching anyways. Despite all the warning emails we’ve sent you, you still haven’t paid for the cloud service you’re using.
To Bob’s comment, I was initially skeptical of the use of videos in the reports, but I have heard from many guys where video can be helpful. Mainly anywhere where action can be helpful. Dirty burners in a furnace, showing the orange streaking in action. Water drips from a leaking faucet, or a leak down a pipe so you can follow a source and see where it goes. A flapping panel due to an air leak from a duct.
It seems the situations where a picture may not be enough to show what happens, a 10-30 second video can be extremely helpful to illustrate a problem. And to be able to show that to a client without them needing to leave the report, they’re likely to see the value. But showing 2-5 minutes of movement and panning while the inspector moves around isn’t helpful and can be nauseating to watch.
I’ve been working non stop…
Thought I’d take the time on my day off to finally evaluate your new and improved version that you touted in the other thread…
Thus I did and as usual it was so full of bugs that I couldn’t get even one report completed…
If you feel you can argue with actual footage go right ahead knock yourself out !
Military yes, and if you had served you may have even a fraction of understanding how critical we value our gear in the field…
But I 'm of the opinion you have not .
Disrespect ? give it a rest fella if you’re referring to the Beaver that’s his problem ,he wants to play with me then he can get toyed with…
As Far as billing and me owing you a dime, you’re seriously defective like your SW, I havn’t used your worthless cloud service nor your crashing Mobile version in forever …
By all means turn it off …
The only reason I had to deal with your support staff was because of all your bugs… Just as I have displayed in this video today…
I quite simply grew tired of it.
Bottom line is you are a vendor and not an inspector nor a member in interNACHI in my eyes…
I hold you to task to deliver gear that works…
That is all…
My fellow brothers deserve to know what they are up against with varying software …
As far as the Beaver’s comments …lol! yeah sure thing Beaver I was heading up a 29 million dollar project for the launch of the Hummer at age 28 …
Being in charge of all the gears that were produced for the transmission as well as the Chrysler 300 2 yrs later…
This after serving my country…WTF have you ever accomplished ?
Yes as a matter of fact I voiced my concern about the white panels that represent the video in each category in the report the first day on their forums…
I’m busy and have to prepare two reports now before tomorrow commercial inspection…
I 'm fully aware that this lights a fire under your *** Dom, I have nothing against you and I hope it motivates you to fix the stuff for your customers , my brothers.
I’m too busy to come back here and continue this so that will be my last video…
I do not use the HIP,it is my sw bought and paid for so I don’t want to hear you talking smack about me owing you anything…
I’d actually rather gift it to a new member here if it is allowed…somebody who is just starting out and can’t afford it.
I have just taken on 4 more inspections for the next 4 days as well as a strip mall on monday .
Not a member of InterNACHI? I guess you missed the fact that the members of this great association not only nominated me as member of the year multiple times but actually awarded it to me? Or that I have almost 10,000 posts where I’ve helped members. I have spent thousands of hours donating time to the members of this association, including to many members who never used our software. I’ve given away the software for free and donated financially to many members on here in need. You definitely need to check that again.
We have MANY former military as members (in fact we give them a big discount). In fact, we have former military working for Home Inspector Pro. You actually cussed one out during one of your wonderful rants on a support call. before I banned you from calling and limited you to other means of support.
You showed one bug on your video. Something extremely simple to fix and not critical to the software at all. If you had contacted us in any way like a normal inspector would have, it would have already been fixed.
Mike, yes he has. In fact I was sent this a few weeks ago from the HomeGauge forum. He hadn’t even started using the software yet and he was already cussing it out. You should see his emails to me last year where he called HomeGauge software all sorts of bad names! According to his post on their forum, he thinks their report looks like crap. Not that I think they do at all (I think HG has done an excellent job in the industry), it just expresses how we have one inspector on here that has no respect for anything or anyone’s hard work.
Do you have any clue how idiotic you appear after posting that screen shot from your competitor’s forums?
That is an inspector conversing amongst fellow inspectors about the tools that they are using …
It has jack s h i t to do with you…
That is me voicing my observation,do you think you are shaming me ?
LOL you have no idea …
If your skin is that thin you may wanna head to the ladies room there fella…
You wouldn’t have lasted a minute in the military nor in a Big Three plant in Mi
You think this has nothing to do with me? If there were clients bad mouthing your company in a public place online where other clients could see, do you think it would have nothing to do with you? This has EVERYTHING to do with us.
You’ve posted lies on here in the past. You’ve over exaggerated issues. You are posting comments that affect my business, my employees and our livelihoods. Something that I’ve spent 18-20 hours a day for over a decade doing while attempting to better the lives of inspectors and their families. You think that I should say nothing to defend our company against your behavior? Would you do the same if someone was saying incorrect things about your company? Why do you think so many inspectors comment on these posts in defense of HIP?
I don’t think that post looks idiotic at all. That was your post that you made. It shows how you go around with this same attitude towards everyone you associate with, not just HIP, Bob, Mike, etc.
YOU are the one that chose to come and bring this thread up again after supposedly switching software a week or two ago. I guess you couldn’t just immediately switch to HG overnight like you made it out to be in your previous posts?
I like Bob and I have no issue with him…
he’s one cool cat .
The beaver decided to take a swing at me
that’s his issue…
I have nothing against you so let it go Dom,just say "hey I’m gonna get these issues fixed " and then do it …
problem solved…
I’m done here , far too busy as I stated
I also stated that I am not using HIP and just tried it out on my day off yesterday .
It’s my damn SW and I’ll play around with it when and how much I want…
Get over it !
I switched to HG ,end of story .
This is too much childish drama and I’m done…
If Larson would simply shut his suck hole maybe I’d be done with this
So thanks your lil fanboy for prodding me…
As far as the beaver calling me a loser, hey Mikey I’m doing more in the way of free charity work tomorrow in one day than you will make all month…
Take it to the bank and cash it .
Now leave me the heck alone before I decide to post your letter to me about threatening to have your lawyer shut me up after having exercised my right of opinion of the software that I own …
Being a vet and fighting for rights has me pretty pissed about you thinking you can stifle free speech…
