Wallboard inspections

So I had a client ask me to do a wall board inspection. He has already painted the walls btw. The problem is I’ve never really done one. I’m not talking about pre-draywall I was able to find some generic stuff online. Type of screw, spacing, material. My question(s): 1)are wallboard inspections a thing?
2)what report is used? I use Home Inspector Pro
3)what’s your fee?

Not very clear what your client is asking for, but my WAG is a drywall finish inspection. Drywall finish level standards are outlined by the Gypsum Association in GA-214.
Here is a short article about the 5 levels of drywall finish.

ASTM C840 Standard Specification for Application and Finishing of Gypsum Board is much more detailed and addresses all types of drywall installation and finish issues.

You can tailor HIP to create any kind of report you want.

Charge accordingly for your time based on the expectations of your client and mutual understanding of what will be delivered for your time and effort.

No one can assist you with any confidence of actually helping you because you don’t know what your client expects of you.

You need to clarify your scope of work with your client.

So, get back with him/her and find out what he is expecting from you…SPECIFICALLY.

If I had to guess, since the client has painted the walls, that means the client is already living in the home? And maybe they are seeing some nail pops and cracks and want to know if it’s normal stuff or if they have a problem on their hands?

Keep in mind flat paint and textured walls will help hide drywall imperfections higher gloss paint and smooth walls will highlight imperfections. Bowed studs in the wall will add to the problem. Drywall contractors here charge more if the homeowner wants smooth walls vs textured walls because of the visibility of imperfections.

Inspections are a thing. You may be asked to inspect many systems or components within the home. Larry said it best.

Randy, in the Jeff City area, Waynesville area, etc we saw textured walls but seldom anywhere else I’ve been
