Inspecting a house today and noticed this. Water softener discharge line drains into utility sink drain line. This needs to have an air gap to prevent back siphoning/cross connections right?
My thought is if the sink clogs water can flow back into the line.

You can connect a water softener above the garage sink.
Miss high-loop air gap.
