WDI or Possible Woodpecker

Any thoughts on this damage? I’m not a WDI inspector. Wood siding.

They’re “drumming” for a mate.
Mating season is thru May .

Every cedar siding panel comes with 2 free woodpeckers.

Absolutely, woodpecker damage.

I find flies will get behind the siding sometimes and when they buzz, vibrate the building wrap/paper and that attracts the woodpeckers.

Also, silverfish live behind siding attracting woodpeckers.

Looks like woodpeckers, BUT … “The siding has holes and damage in need of repair”

The Woodpecker is tipping you off to WDI (or other pests) below the surface. that you can’t see but Woody can hear, and he/she is marking the spots for you to call out and make you, the lowly CPI look like the hero.

Agreed: woodpecker. And they’ll go after 100% sound cedar siding, then nest in like 1 out of 10 holes they drill.
