Not to mention about 15-20 full wind mitigation inspections!
Question to my support group… I found a joist that has been sistered, the clip is still attached but, with only 2 nails. I can not get to it to properly install required 3rd nail. I can install a clip from simpson as per manufacturer recommendation. How would these reinspectors feel about this! anyone have ideas or am I thinking in the right direction here. Thanks
Just cover that area so it isn’t visible.
Simpson has products with hurricane rated apps for back up. I’m gonna make em wish they never pulled my name from the pot…I’ll write a book after all this, make sure people are warned and educated of these insurance reinspectors. Really after its all said and done this wasn’t all that difficult and, I will have a safer house til a 5 rolls thru…lol
Magnetic nail heads:p
OK that was a joke
Lol :shock::lol:
Wow! I’ve been looking for those - I planned on making a pretty penny with them!!
Is the up lift rating drastically changed by adding third nail ?
You would need the testing data to determine that, and I don’t even know if a study was done.
As for my neighbor, she got someone to take a picture of the wrap and also found the plans to her home where is specifically states what type of strap was used.
Let’s see what they have to say now!
O.K GUYS I was just looking at new mitigation form, question 4 under minimal conditions to qualify… the last box. last statement (free of severe corrosion) can someone please define this in the states eyes or underwriters eyes, before I get screwed because of surface rust.
It would be corrosion that affects the structural integrity of the strap, as in, rusted through.
Click on the link below for an example.
I will agree with that so, so why would reinspector write (I quote) Severe corrosion in his report, you guys saw the pictures in this post…insurance underwriters will see this comment and deny credit. State needs to stop this reinspection crap.
For several reasons. Form the simple:
- He doesn’t know what he is doing
- He made an honest mistake
to, the more sinister:
He knows what he is doing, has no license, so nothing to lose, and he is being ordered to find something to fail in the hopes that you, as many others, will not fight it.
I am for giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. Although in your case…
my email is: ev@magnuminspections.com
Send me his name and I will see what I can find out.
Thanks Eric, I checked it out, he was/is licensed, after reading and researching more about this issue, I feel he was hired to find something to deny me discounts. I cannot put all blame on him. It goes back to insurance companies. They just picked the wrong one here to push, I push back harder…this has to stop, I feel for the elderly who do not know what’s happening here… THIS MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE PUBLIC’S ATTENTION !
Greg has asked me to do this on his behalf so here it is:)
I will not be doing that kind of crap in the field I assure you.
Mike can you post this picture if you get a chance. Question # 4 if i’m reading it correctly less than 1/2" gap. You guys are going to have it tough. Thanks
HOLY SH__ Batman!! Remove this picture immediately!! If someone in underwriting gets ahold of this it will become the new standard that they are expecting - I, for one, would draw the line at trying to get this one!!
Sounds funny now. But I agree and suggest that no one ever puts that crap in a report.
Greg happens to have his whole soffit removed at the moment. I believe we have a case of a guy really trying his best to harden his home so he can get the discounts he deserves. There are not a lot of folks like him around.
Most want a shortcut or simple answer or someone who will play ball.
Go0d thing for him it is not stucco. Although I could repair it for him
One good whack with a hammer would fix that!
I wouldn’t go giving anyone any ideas with that picture. I can see it now…
New protocol for straps: Must show pictures of 4 straps with proper spacing (less than 1/2 inch between the truss and strap)
Dammit John, it was OK when you were giving away YOUR secrets but this has crossed the line…
