Hey all, inspector in training here. Anyone know what these are? They were on top of an asphalt shingle roof I drove past the other day. Didn’t get a good look but they obviously aren’t the usual ridge caps. Any ideas?

my guess from Ohio is that someone added those as a decorative accent…how practical it is, is impossible to tell from here…

Yeah just moved to Oklahoma and I have seen them on a few houses now. Could just be a style down here or maybe they are meant to be harder for the wind to grab or something. Wish I knew what they were called so I could look them up.
Looks like tile ridge caps.

The reason to always asks questions here. The wealth of knowledge by seasoned inspectors is like grad courses form the core classes you take. Keep in mind though that you need to rely on the “professors” your most comfortable with,
