Gerry,

I guess I'm just "lucky." ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Kevin,

Are you familiar with Zinsco panels? They have blade type bus bars that are notorious for corroding and arcing. This one happens to be doing so at the main 100 amp breaker.

Zinsco breakers don't secure well to the bus bars and this is what can result from that.

Hey Gerry - I found this "Baby Zinsco" on the same property. It is the sub-panel for the pool equipment ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

That discolored section in Jeff’s first photo is just to let you know the panel is on. icon_eek.gif

I do not ever remember seeing one of these panels, I guess I am the lucky one.

They’re even better when you spray the bus bars before installing the breakers!

Ahhh, Zinsco-itis… the disease of the busbar… usually leaves scarring in affected areas

There may be some truth to that…a possible distributer or salesman was very good at unloading them…

BTW thanks for the education on Zinsko. I never knew that about them, that is to say, I've never seen one of their panels.

I see that Jeff is up in the Santa Clarita Valley area… I work service from Ventura to San Diego & I find these stupid things EVERYWHERE! Zinsco seems to be prevalent in tract homes built from the mid 50’s into the early 80’s as the GTE/Sylvania version… This is by far, the #1 panel I get called to change out due to equiptment failure… Which I guess if I was to look at the glass as half full… Zinsco has made me alot of money! icon_lol.gif
