When taking the cover off an electrical panel I always touch the cover and the ground wire with a voltage tester before I touch the screws. I have never come accross a live one yet but I am not waiting around to be the first.

Besides my therapist told me I have had enough electric shock therapy.

Aside: My new employee, Mike, just scored big points with everyone by recognizing that the GE dishwasher he was inspecting had a recall. He got our client the GE recall web-site address and information. Recalls and class action stuff is really awsome to have on-hand at an inspection. Does anyone have a easy way to incorporate them into your home inspection service?

Ben,

You mean you actually found another sucker...I mean employee. BTW...great catch.

I little while ago I came accross some software that tracked recalls by model, manufacturer or serial number. Unfortunately I do not remember what it was or where I found it.

I will look on the internet.....if I find it again I will pass it along.

This is not software, but it seems like a good database to find recalls for just about anything.
