Torn Labrum…6yrs ago. Lived with it for a year before surgery. Why oh why did I wait so long. 6 weeks + 2weeks of rehab…good as new. No problems so far.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family

I waited til the end of the year to get this done as that is when things slow down for me.
I just woke up one morning and my shoulder hurt. After seeing the MRI and x-ray, my doctor remarked, “There is a lot going on there”!
Torn labrum, bone spurs, arthritis, torn bicep tendon…and that was just page one of the MRI report!
The doc gave me the same timeline as yours unless there is something else that didn’t show up…so, by Christmas I should be ready to go!
I am a quick healer!
I suspect, my wife has been beating me in my sleep!!
I’ll spread the wealth if I get any calls I can’t put off!
for $75 fee, from the attic hatch, it is a toenail
for $150 fee, I belly board over, move heaven and earth, carry nails and hammer(for repairs) and I do my best to classify it as a single strap
Good Luck in your surgery Eric. Torn Rotator, torn bicep 3 years ago for me. Be religious in your rehabilitation no matter what… it will help you get back at inspecting faster, and happy holidays to you and yours.
Hammer and nails? Amateur!
The verdict is in…
Well, that’s a good one.
Those really don’t look like pre-manufactured twisted straps. They look like something the contractor found and twisted themselves to fit the situation.
For the strap that comes from the outside of the house up the top chord back toward the interior, I don’t think you can count that one at all. The strap needs to be vertical or nearly vertical to resist uplift loads.
I think you could count the strap that comes up from the inside of the wall IF it has three nails in it. Looks like it might only have 2, one on one side of truss, and one on the wrapped side. If you could add another nail somehow then you could count it. That wrap doesn’t look particularly tight, but I am not sure that is addressed by the mitigation guidelines.
Looks like it is going to be a toenail.
Be ready for 3-4 months of kick *** pain, rehap will be key. Weight training after you get the ok will help the most. The muscles will shut down after sugery. Ice, common sense, rehap, and patience. Get mentally ready for a slow recovery, yes i had a 60-70% rotator cuff tear, 2 ligaments cut and a bone spur, get off the pain killers ASAP. Weight strength rehap and a good pshy therapist. Get mentally tuff, it is not an easy rehap. best…
I’ll be posting on my blog the rehab process. I have a high threshold for pain so the pills will probably only be for a day or two. When the reconstruction was done on my knee, I was riding a bike by week 5 and fully recovered in 8 months.
The weight training will be easy. In fact, I can’t wait to get back in the gym. All of the recent running I have been doing has caused me to lose weight, which is good, except that it is coming at the expense of my upper body muscle mass.
The other good news is that the therapists at my doctors office are all young hotties! A little motivation! ![]()
For some entertainment:Erics knee
It is a toe nail. There is one wrap around the plate. It is nailed 3 times on one side but fails to meet the requirements for the clip by being nailed to the top plate.
Good luck on the surgery, Eric.
I’m thinking that if an eager welder wants to get in the attic for some work = single wrap LOL
Thanks Brian!
I told the client at the inspection it would probably be a toenail and no credit, but I would see what I could do and if a wind mit was needed, I would have the information for her.
I contacted her and told her what the rep from Simpson said, which is posted above. She thanked me for trying and for getting a definitive answer.
