Anyone ever seen a window unit mounted in the attic?

He said he had three of them in the attic ducted to registers. Wouldn't allow me access to the attic though.

That’s the prettiest drip pan I have ever seen.

Mounted in attic, yes, but differently.

The owner had built a large library (yes, books, heavy books) in the trusses (attic was one of our very tall ones with lots of wasted space).

He installed a room a/c through the library wall, discharging into the attic.

No, it did not work very good for very long, attic got too hot. ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Jerry is right. Unless the attic is well vented it would not be recommended. The heat of the attic would drive refrigerant head pressures up and efficiency down. The hotter gas would shorten the life of the compressor significantly. But then some are willing to pay the price.

Well, that’s sort of what I thought. I basically wrote that installation like this is not generally an accepted practice.
