women Inspectors

This is a question for the women inspectors out there. My sister is considering becoming a Home Inspector and possibly working for myself. I would like to get feed back from the women as to how they are treated. Are you given a fair chance being a female in this occupation by the realtors and home buyers? Any feed back would be great.

Kurt,

My experience is that people think it's great.

Alot of people say that women are much more

detail oriented. I was also in the building trades

for over 20 years. Being an Inspector is much

easier in those regards.

Tell your sister if she wants to do it than go for it.

Kurt,

I used to have a woman inspector working for me. She left and went out on her own, and is doing a great job. If your sister has the knowledge and ability, encourage her.

I am a wannabe home inspector. I have been studying, and wanting to tag along on inspections. But…in the meantime I am still running my sign business. I don’t see how it would be all that different from the position I am in. She will probably get the occasional women who don’t want to deal with another woman, or the occasional man who thinks women don’t know anything…but my bet is she will do well! The nice thing about ‘today’ is people can do as they want if they have the passion and desire to do so.

I for one, would like to see more women inspectors but that is just me and I am one big flirt. icon_cool.gif

On a more professional note, I have found that gender is not really an issue when it comes to inspections, you either know it or you don't. I don't believe women are any less capable of knowledge and experience then their male counterparts.

NOW CAN I HAVE SOME FRIES WITH THAT SHAKE, HUNNY!

Carla,

You are making me blush dear! ![icon_redface.gif](upload://f7DX2EWhmUfsDapWaYT3oJHMCj1.gif)

I am good but as I explained in another post, pretty busy. Not by choice, I am looking for my kitchen floor. At Gary's suggestion I looked behind the washer and dryer and took it a step further on my own and looked behind the frig and stove...NO LUCK! Still missing!

I gotta find it sometime soon, like before I forget it is not there and take a plunge!
