No HTML experience used or needed. Don't try to get to fancy. You want fast loading pages. About $15.00 a month for it.
Register your own domain name with a domain name registrar BEFORE you do anything. I did b4uclose.com with www.namesecure.com.
You get a free one with a tripod account, HOWEVER, they somehow legally control it and you MUST continue your account with them to keep using the name. That's where I got www.b4uclose.net.
I suggest you do a web search on "free website hosting" and try several of them with the free account or a bogus name. Explore, play with them, see if you like them, but don't put a lot of effort into them. After you've tried several, you'll have a better grounding to make a decision.

What I use and I think that it works great is… I registered my domain with Registerfly.com for 7.99 for the year. After that I went to surpasshosting.com and got 500MB of space for 6.00 a month. It comes with a very easy to use control panel. And if you have Front Page or something like that it will upload automatically.
Also comes with POP E-mail, and autoresponders...

Well, everybody has a different approach, so I’ll share mine:
*Registered my domain with doteasy.com. Cost $25/year to register. Comes with absolutely Free hosting, no ads, 10 email accounts. Good system - absolutley no complaints.
*Then I built(am still building) a site on bydesignwebsights.com They will offer you a DotNetNuke portal for free. (Of course, they will try to get you to upgrade). If you know a little HTML, you can create a very good site in no time. Very powerfull stuff.
*I then redirected the site I built to my internet adress(easy stuff). So, you type my homepage and will always see my homepage in the address bar, but it is really reading a completely different site.

Domain names are good for a year at most places. I think some you can do longer. The best thing to do is keep your CC on file with the registrar that way they can renew it for you. I messed that up with my gjohnson.org and someone came and stole it from me the day it expired.
