Roy, thank you very much for the reply and info. HIP it is. Can I reach out if needed.
HEY!
Give it back to WAFI
Oh good. I will use the crayons. That should work good and I can leave them with the report so they can modify. Glad there is some humor here
Yep! Be glad to help if I can.
Wow, is that still a thing?? lol. I’ve been busy and haven’t been here for a while. Great to “see” you Mr Goldenberg!!
YEA MIKE!
Always great to see you too!
Happy holidays
My firm uses Spectora and I’m considering moving away from their credit card processing for Authorize.io as a cost saver (I don’t like the idea of pushing costs like this to the customer).
What are your thoughts of not using Spectora’s payment processing? Worth the extra effort?
Thanks.
You do not have to push the CC fee to the customer. It is an option in Spectora but not required.
I use it for the convenience. The fees are inline or slightly cheaper than any competitors I can find.
Believe me, your customer pays those costs every time they use a credit card. Fuel, groceries, restaurants, etc. all have the credit card processing fee figured into the published price. Sad thing is most consumers don’t realize it.
True. Have you had many complain about it and how do you communicate it?
I have a line in my contract that says: A 3% fee will be added if paying by credit card. I also tell them verbally at the inspection and to date, no one has complained.
“Total Fee Due: $------”
Period. All operating fees are included in my chargeable fees. No need to disclose anything!
Start thinking like a business, not a hobbyist scrounging for beer money!

At the end of the tax year, I just total the credit card fee’s and deduct them as a business expense. Easy!
Interesting thought. Merchant fees are tax deductible for your business. If you charge an additional fee to cover the cost, is that taxable income and you can’t claim the fee deductions, or does it offset one another?
I don’t charge extra for merchant fees, but have claimed them for deductions.
Stephen, you beat to the question I asked.
They offset each other. You still claim the fees as a deduction, but your gross deposits are higher. But I would rather have the extra income. Last year I paid over $5k just in cc fees. I have started adding those in to my invoices
I encourage clients to use a credit card and I have the fee built into my rates. Just another business expense to consider when setting your rates. And I want them to use a card because it makes my life much easier.
And now we’re back to “making life easier” again…
