# 2 Google Site Week Old

I agree. Point is I made the search engine damn near over night and another point I’m trying to make is for those who have a URL or title on their site that is not relevant to keywords that represent the home inspection market… you’re are only hurting yourself. Whether you have me build your site or someone else just make sure they make your site relevant to what you have to offer and that includes key things I’m trying to tell you guys.

I have to agree with JW. Why would any home inspector search for anything with “contractor” in it? Or Pro for that matter. Maybe not even Office.

I give up explaining anything to you guys seriously  Shuuu. Yes my contractor site is aimed at contractors nation wide “in general”. I will be catering to home inspectors as well when it comes to the call center and without a doubt will build you guys a website which will outshine the competition “look wise”. Will it make page one? Past odds probably so because your code will be set up to give you the best opportunity to do so. Will I guarantee it? Nope. No one can. I just made this thread to show you guys what you needed to focus in on regarding code on your own site. That’s it. Has nothing to do with searching for my business.

NACHI is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to people I know  I’ve helped and exchanged ideas with many across the country over the years. I love what I do. This business and my new business are passions of mine. I just retired from the service. Give me a year or so… I’m just getting started ;).

I thought you had a chain of offices Billy. Google shows you with an “office” address in O’Fallon IL, Cottage Hills IL, Bethalto IL, St. Louis MO, just to name a few.

Also I didn’t know you owned an Illinois Pest Control business. When did you become an Illinois licensed pest control technician?

You have to much time on your hands. Those are old accounts and why Google picked me up as a IL termite inspector… I can only speculate. I do remember choosing the option that I offer termite inspections and if I recall right at that time I put my home address in IL for local which Google local aims at your home address (which was my business address) even though I put my target circle into St. Louis. My inspection business address is on my site and I never have inspected on your IL turf. If I ever do you’ll see my license number.

PS… I live in Bethalto. Visit me anytime.

Time on my hands has nothing to do with it. MY website is on the same Google pages as yours, at least in Illinois. That’s the only reason I noticed it.

Or you saying Google put this info on Your Google Plus page?

Pest Control Service
Today 7:00 am – 9:00 pm

You guys in the same service areas should get along like me and Linas. lol

We inspect in two different states  Chris just likes to stir things up for some reason even after I’ve told multiple people about him. I have no idea what he has against me and really don’t care.

Updated Google Page. I really don’t remember where and when I put it on there. Whether they do something with it is up to them. Changed address and termite control to termite inspector.

Bob,
Is it your turn to buy breakfast today or mine?

Please DON’T tell us who gets the sausage!

If it’s liquid breakfast… I’m in!!

Jeff

I get along with Billy just fine. I was only trying to prevent him from getting in trouble. Termite/pest inspections in Illinois requires a license, Missouri doesn’t. If someone (another termite/pest tech) sees him advertising termite inspections in Illinois, with an Illinois address, they may report him.

Other than that it makes no difference to me.

Actually it’s on Nachi if you go to the party tonight.
Have not seen you at a meeting in a long long time.

I’d like to Bob, but I’ve got to keep the fireplace going, a bottle of wine to nurse and keep an eye on this message board to make sure the new guys don’t get led astray with bad advise from con artists.
Have fun.

Thanks Chris. I appreciate it.

N.P its next week anyway.

Billy I commend your drive and willingness to expand your business. But, you know as well as I do and many other SEO “experts” that EVERY NEW SITE WILL JUMP AROUND ON GOOGLE FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS, unless you are a brand like Sears or Amazon.

New sites generally get sandboxed by Google and other SE, mainly because they want to be sure you will be around for awhile. They don’t want to give you a #1 ranking and a month later your site is gone because you shut it down. They want to know your serious. I won’t be surprised if in a few weeks it is #30 then jumps to #10 then back to #1.

I would also agree with some that you can’t search the name of the website unless it is a generally accepted search term that most people would use. Home inspectors would be misguided to use terms like “dwelling detective” because that is not the industry term, and clients do not use that term for a search.

All the other SEO advice may or may not work since SE do not release their algorithms. But in general Billy is correct. There is a ton to know for SEO and most guys don’t do what is needed, including myself.

Billy, I looked at your page source, I think some things should be changed. Let me know if you need any suggestions, I always like to see people be successful.

I also think your service is a niche market, so it may be that you are better off marketing directly to HI and using the site as a place for info.

Your plan and rates link in your signature is broken. I get a 404 response.

I agree with Michael here.

I would like to add that SEO is a constantly moving target & although some of the basics remain, algorithms are constantly changing. I personally think one would have better luck trying to figure out the seven secrets of the universe than to keep up with the ever changing world of Google.

Just the same, I commend you for your efforts & wish you success in your new endeavors Billy.
