I got a text yesterday with this information about advertising in Remax folders I didn’t know if anyone had any experience with this type of advertising or not. The text are below:
Hello, my name is Zack and we are getting ready to produce the brand new presentation folders for Re/Max Edge Realty, Located at 2379 Professor Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113 on the inside pockets of the folders we will be featuring a mixture of 8-10 different local businesses to act as resources to all of the agents and agents clients buying and selling homes through-out the year. Can I count you in?
Here is the best part! The one time fee includes everything. All pictures, logos, any special lettering or other information you would like included. Your business will be featured in every presentation folder for one FULL YEAR. Sizing Options:
$300 Single 4.06W X 1.43H
$600 Double 4.06W X 2.91H
$900 Triple 4.06W X 4.365H
$1100 Quad 4.06W X 5.82H
I’ve never accepted any advertising like this because it doesn’t seem like it would be worth it. I was just curious if anyone else had a different experience.
As with most advertising, the only way to know if it’ll work is to try it.
If it’s for all the ReMax Brokers in the greater Cleveland area it might be something to try, but if it’s for only one broker, I would most likely pass on it.
Like most of us, I have received calls about these for just about every brokerage. You ask agents about them, and you get a, I think we put everything into them at close, but I had no idea that home inspectors even advertised on them.
Sounds like a money-making endeavor for someone. Just not the home inspector.
In a nutshell… this is one way of getting you and others to pay for their advertising costs!!
Take the same money that you may be considering, and use it for your own dedicated advertising!!
I would consider that “top of mind” advertising. You won’t get any business directly but each realtor will see your logo often enough to know you exist. But you will have to find other ways to reach them to reinforce your brand.
Yeah that’s something I have noticed. I used to meet realtors at open houses and would introduce myself, but after meeting 200 realtors with no work, I stopped doing that. It wasn’t until agents saw me working did they start recommending me and distributing cards. It makes sense, why would they recommend me if they don’t know me at all.
I have a hunch that these “marketing” companies offer free presentation folders to real estate offices with the caveat that they will have advertising on them. I would suspect that most real estate offices say “no,” like I would in their shoes. Seems a bit tacky to have advertising on your presentation folders… When someone (anyone) it the real estate firm gives even a verbal “sure” or “okay” the marketing firm starts frantically selling ad spots to any sucker they can find. The ad fees likely cover the full cost of producing the folders, with healthy sales overhead pursuing suckers like you, and still make an obscene profit.
I suspect there is no written contract between the real estate office and the marketing firm - just some folders showing up on their doorstep. No guarantee that the real estate firm even uses the folders.
The same “scam” is out there for golf course score cards.
Yeah I didn’t investigate to much, but that sounds like what they would do. I have talked to people about brochures for golf courses and it kinda sounds like a similar thing. And the golf course one doesn’t work at all
My wife is a Re/Max agent and she said the only time she uses the company folder is when she is going on a listing presentation/interview. Nothing like that for closings or as a buyer’s rep. They don’t do advertisements in their folders, but thought it was a pretty good idea. The way I would look at it;
Pro’s: If it’s for a listing presentation, the potential for a “pre-listing” inspection is in front of someone plus you already have a “business card” in the hands of someone who may be buying another home.
Con’s: Many agents may have their go to inspector and won’t be willing to share your advertising. Also, make sure of the placement of the Ad. Preferably on the pocket that holds the paperwork.
It may or may not work, but might be worth looking into a little further.
Lol! Right! The broker owns 17 offices in Northeast GA. and she’s one of the top producing brokers with Re/Max nationally. I’m pretty sure she’s looked into this several times but really hasn’t implemented anything yet. Now the advertising in the magazine in brokers’ boxes is a total waste of time. Very few folks are grabbing those these day’s with RE.com and Zillow.
When I was a Remax agent, we did this. Even in the unlikely possibility that a client might actually bother to scan the ads, the chances of remembering anyone on the folder seems remote.
I get those coupon fliers all the time with coupons for restaurants that I like or want to try. In the last 20 years, I’ve remembered to use one of those restaurant coupons…twice. I’ve forgotten to use over a hundred.
The general problem with advertising for us is timing. You pretty much need your name in front of someone at the moment they are deciding to get a home inspection. And that someone is not getting a recommendation from their agent, a relative or friend. Long odds IMO.
