Ive completed my 120 credit hour education requirement. Ive passed my National Home Inspectors exam. Taking the ASHI COE and SOP exam next Thursday. Alabama also requires 35 shadow inspections with a licensed inspector with minimum 5 years experience. Is there anyone in the Birmingham/Huntsville area that is familiar with this requirement and can direct me towards someone to speak with? This requirement was put into place for Alabama in 2019 so it is fairly new. Ive reached out to the Alabama Home Inspector division several times to try to obtain more information on this but no word back. Assuming the holidays have most people out of the office. I am in Fort Payne and am willing to travel to fulfill this requirement. Thank you.

Zachary, you may want to contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.

Larry, thank you for the input. I think I have found the information I needed with what I have gained from the Alabama inspectors government website. I appreciate your response and that’s another reason I was particularly questioning about Birmingham and Huntsville since it’s a couple hours away from me. Therefore, wouldn’t feel like I was stepping on anyone’s toes. Thank you for the links, I’ll def be doing some home work!
