Hi to all,

Tim, I have never seen one quite like that, but it does look somewhat like a grease trap that you would find in most commercial kitchens.

Regards

Most grease traps I’ve seen have a high entry but a low exit to keep the floating grease from leaving the trap.

This has a high entry and a high exit. Grease will come right back out.

Don't think it's a grease trap.

Hi to all,

I agree Erby, but if the top mounted outlet has a dip tube to pull from the bottom it would work OK. Like I said I have never seen one like this, but this set up could work (the red cap maybe for dosing the system)

then again I could be completely wrong

Gerry

I didn’t think about the dip tube.

It would be nice if you were, just once, that's all I ask.

Please!

It would be interesting to know what was in here before . I expect it could have been a pottery or ceramic shop . I believe this is to allow the clay from washing equipment and hands to settle out and the water to discharge out the top .

Was the Bulding that had that in there ever a dentist office ?? It looks like a plaster trap drain bucket . Plaster being heavier than water will sink to the bottom of the bucket therefore , notgoing into the drain and clogging it up .When the bucket is full of plaster you change out the the bucket for a new one and you are back in business. One thing though when the old bucket is being removed careful not to spill it … It smells nasty!

To All, I think you are right about the plaster trap, I just happen to see the dismantling of it. I could make out the words plaster on the label but thats about it. (Label was inside)

Tim,

Do you have a pic of the piping arrangement on top of this canister?
