Be careful out there! Had a viscious dog attack attack my son and I at an inspection not too long ago. The same dog bit a contractor inspecting the house. The dog was chained to a tree in the front yard that had no fence and it was quiet until you got close and then attacked.
We had a local inspector several years ago that was attacked by three dogs during an inspection. He almost lost his life and was left severely handicapped, his career ended, it was heartbreaking. We always check the status of animals on a property prior to an inspection and have it in our Inspection Agreement that the inspector can terminate an inspection if he feels threatened by a dog(s) or animal and he also carries mace and a stun gun. We do a lot of rural properties so it is always wise to be overly cautious.
You need to carry. Even just a .22.
Walked off an inspection for first time a couple months ago because of a intoxicated pissed of husband and 2 mean rottweilers. If I have to carry, then I don’t need to be there.
True, I would have walked off as well. And, I carry.
I pray I can remove myself from a situation long before a weapon of any kind is needed.
