Basement foundation

This crack in the ground was found under a double wide mobile home. Anyone know what could have caused it? Is it a serious problem? Any advice helps. Thanks

looks like a little river went through there. Water erosion from something.
Any evidence of that from outside or underground?

Begin with telling us your location! It could be from a ‘Fault line’ or water erosion, or…???

That black line is from a water line from the well. The only other thing I saw near the house was a downspout that was missing a splash block preventing the water from diverting away from the house.

BTW… wheres the Basement located???

Sure. The property is at 28190 Lake Hill Ct Jonesburg, MO 63351. There are pictures on Zillow and Realtor.com.

Seems kinda obvious to me without being there in person…

Please elaborate.

Where are your relevent photos?
What direction does the rainwater flow when coming down the hill?
Look at the walls.
Look at the ground.
All the indications are there.

I would recommend that you call a local home inspector and then try to figure out the cause of it and if it should be of any concern.

I see. So it’s definitely the downspout. Thanks for helping me out with this.

No, absolutely NOT!
Yes, it is contributing, but is not the primary issue.

Funny…
As your pic was loading, and I could only see the top (so far), I thought for certain you were going to say something like… “Fishing for answers…” or some such! LOL!!

I did. He literally said “ I don’t know”. Lol I guess I’ll find out after I purchase it.

Better than a line of BS :+1: I give him credit for that much.

That is not a crack. That is a ground fracture, and it needs to get looked at further by a geotech engineer to make sure it’s not the makings of a sinkhole over a large fissure. Your part of Missouri (and pretty much the lower two thirds of the state) has surface dolomite and carbonate rocks as the main surface geology.

Could be a huge mistake! Call another inspector, foundation contractor, or a Soils Engineer!
You may be surprised what that hillside can do if it rains enough!

Lol. Sure looks that way!
