Hello all. Im in the business model phase. I have already completed my course and state exam. Havnt purchased my required insurance and sent in my application to the state yet. Wanted to work up a business model. You know, startup cost, expense vs. income. That kinda stuff. The only little problem is I do not have any idea on how to work up what to charge! I have read the size and age of the house factor in. Just have no idea. Any help with a fee schedule for the N.W. Florida area would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Welcome to the forum Timothy.
There are a few ways to find out the information. Search the internet for inspectors in your area, some will post their prices on their website. Also you can call around and ask them.
There is a lot of information here at InterNACHI. Go see the business courses that were created for new inspectors, that should be enough to get you started.
Hi Timothy,
I just started my business and I’m still dialing in my pricing. Here are some of the things I did.
@Tony mentioned viewing local websites and that definitely works. Some will post their pricing. Inspectors post their pricing on Thumbtack as well. Once you know what your competitors are charging, go with pricing in the middle range, at least to get started. You don’t want to be too high, especially when you have little to no reviews yet. You don’t want to go too low because you don’t want cheap clients.
Join your local chapter and reach out to the person running it. They’re usually very helpful to new Inspectors. Best of luck!
Good info. Thanks to all.
