I am looking to use an extendable pole with a WIFI enabled camera to control from my mobile device. I have seen this question asked 3 years ago but those cameras are no longer available. What are your suggestions? I would like the ability to zoom as well.
I use a Canon SX610 on my pole, the wifi connects to smart phones for remote control and it has a great zoom.

Buy a used go pro off evil bay. Make a painters pole adapter - 1/4 " 20 bolt through an old paint roller handle. Buy the length of painters pole you’ll be using.
Done. The whole deal shouldn’t set you back more than a Buck. Most of those wifi cameras cost double or triple that.
I use a Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70 camera with the Panasonic Image APP. It works great and it does allow you to use the zoom feature.
Two android phones - “SayCheese”. Phone on pole needs decent camera. If android on gound has your inspection software, pics can be dragged right in. Can use collapsible selfie stick for tricky indoors.
I have used the same go pro for the last seven years. I have 37’, 16’ and 5’ extendable poles. Works great and you can zoom in.
Where did you get it and what kind of pole is that Justin?
Hi, Ken. Welcome to InterNACHI form.
Great replies.
Thanks.
The 16’ and 5’ I just bought at Lowe’s. The 37’ I purchased online. I don’t remember where, it is the original one
When I was starting out I was going to order the carbon telescoping pole that was $1200. Luckily for me it was out of stock so I just built one myself for around $150. I added a phone holder to it so I could use both hands when fully extended.

I have the DOCA pole that JJ shows. It’s great! I use it for a lot of things but not too often now for pictures. Unless I can rest it against something, I just shake too much for a quality picture. It will work for you younger guys, though!
A few years ago I had a terrible problem with my hands shaking, I began using an iodine supplement and the shaking problem has gone away and not returned.
I use a doca pole with a phone clamp. I just put on video and hit record. I then can clip pictures from the video and enter into software. Works great.
You’ll need both hands to handle the pole and both eyes to watch what you’re doing at all times. I have no idea how others can handle the pole and look at another device or “see” what you’re doing same time.
Use your camera in Video mode, and take Screen shots or extract Frames as needed from your video.
Are people holding these poles freehand? I’ve always rested the butt of the pole on the ground. Really easy to control with one hand let alone two. Camera at the top connected by wifi to my phone clamped to the pole in front of me.
What camera do you use?

I did that for a few months, until I got one of these (similar).
What a difference.
