Can a FL home inspector perform a WDO inspection

Can a home inspector in FL legally perform a WDO inspection for a client looking to get a VA loan?

I’m pretty sure Florida requires a license to perform WDI inspections, for a VA loan or anyone else.

does florida require a license for WDI inspections - Google Search

Yes, Florida requires a specific license or a state-issued ID card under a licensed pest control operator for WDO (Wood Destroying Organism) inspections. This means that you cannot legally perform a WDO inspection in Florida without either being a certified pest control operator or working under the license and supervision of one.

Here’s a breakdown:

  • WDO inspections in Florida are performed by licensed pest control operators or individuals working under their supervision, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
  • A separate license or an employee ID card under a licensed pest control company is required, according to the InterNACHI®️ Forum.
  • Home inspectors in Florida are not authorized to perform WDO inspections unless they are also licensed as pest control operators or work under the supervision of one, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
  • The FDACS oversees pest control activities and issues the necessary licenses and certifications for WDO inspections.

No not unless you are trained, pass the appropriate tests, and are an ID card holding pest operator/technician.

Correct.
And the only way you can do that is to work under a licensed pest operator.

I don’t know… CAN they??

You do know that google can answer that question for you. Get your state pest license and you will be good to go. I’m in Missouri and I had to get licensed for termite inspections. The test was not very hard. But Florida’s license requirements might be different. You might actually have to work for a pest company to obtain the license.
