Can anyone identify this?

Came across this piece of abandoned equipment in the basement of an 1878 home in Buffalo, NY. The three pipes are all abandoned gas lines coming from a manifold above and behind the unit. It is wrapped in asbestos insulation, so we couldn’t touch it to look for any kind of nameplate.

Any ideas, theories, answers would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen something similar in an old mansion in Vancouver.

In that case it was an incinerator used to burn trash and top-up the domestic hot water.

Good luck?.. Sean

Thanks very much. It's people like you that give this business a bad rep. Next time, keep your wiseass comments to yourself.

Have a nice day.

There may be several things that could give this business a bad name, but I doubt that a lighthearted post is one of them. dbowers did not offer any mis-information, nor did he stop others from posting, so where's the problem?

His post also moves your thread to the top and may get you even more answers.

Scott, Sorry if we came across wrong…was just a cute blurb to help lighten everyone’s day. I thought it was funny, not sarcastic, and I’m sure it was intended that way. icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe you just had a bad day, or maybe your wound a little to tight?

I agree with Jim & Darrell there Scott…lighten up a little bit. I see you are brand new to the boards, don’t want to get off on the wrong foot.

funny. I regularly see “git 'er dun” ( aiwebs_017.gif ) plastered all over the “pick 'em up trucks” around here and joke about it quite frequently. From an intellectual standpoint, I think those two posts were well thought out comedic attempts to make our day just a little better. Thanks guys.
