Certified Master Inspector

OH! I like the standards to be raised ,I think it is a great idea .
I would love this to be done by a legitimate association not some self appointed group who gives out very little information.
Past records from many in this group show they are out for them selves and not the Home inspection industry.
Why should I and others do as they say with out them being truthfull and honerable.
Can you tell me why we should believe what they say and do.

As far as i know CMI is one there is no separation for Canada or USA. Why would CMI want to level the playing field. We want to raise the bar and have CMI lead the way. No matter what country you are in.

You keep mentioning self-appointed group - is that the case for the CMI, or the elected body of NACHI? You opened that can of worms - now - true or not true?

I respect the work and visionaries in creating the CMI, however, many have already questioned some of its workings. I am not here to degrade it - but your continual shots across the bow in your endeavour to defame CAHPI, OAHI and the NCA - is nothing but cheap shots, because those that judge - may find the tables turned by the same details of fact.

Again, I ask this respectfully - knowing you already know the answer to that question. So be careful when we talk about self-appointments. What’s good for the goose - is good for the gander - n’est pas?

I say - please give it a rest! Your “professionalism” is showing.

You CMIs need to stop playing around and get them fees up to around $600 per. Let’s go, man.

Why? Because it would increase the assurance to the public that CMI is in fact the best.

James

Thats a pipe dream. Sure its great to think cmi is worth the price, but you would be pricing yourself out of the market.

The requirements are going up slowly. As of today you are required to have at least 3 years in business as a home inspector.

Henry thats great.

Call it mentoring or Test Inspection Peer Review, but I think it would be very beneficial for the program in the long run at some point in the future.

Hey Claude

Now who would really want to be reviewed by a person like Carl Inglis? I know many who would not. Given his dismal record of Report Reviewer no one has anything to fear but Carls ignorance and self importance.

I agree and would like more requirements but i also think we have to grow slowly. The previous Prez was not very good and left a bad taste in the industry. The new prez did more for CMI in a week and i think there is more to cone.

Henry

Nothing should be rushed into. But its nice to know something may be on the horizon. And is food for thought.

Cheers,

Henry,

I noticed this about CMI, " Any non-felon"

What happens if the applicant is a convicted felon?

I know CAHPI/National does not have a requirement like this and I have some concerns with regard to allowing permitting criminals into peoples homes.

Henry - bravo - congratulations. Putting the best person in to the job, and move it forward. I support those with vision and the will to better our lot. I refuse to let the pass dictate our future.

I offer my information to help others, and suggestions to make the home inspection a profession - not an industry. There is a huge difference, but as long as some dwell upon the past and try to block others from moving forward with setting up barriers - it will be an undaunting task.

I offer my assistance where ever it may be deemed required. And I am not afraid to disclose that I also wear many hats - including education and training, and now chair the National Certification Authority in Canada. Perhaps some of those personal skills and expertise may help others towards reaching some of the goals.

If not so be it - but until the underlying beliefs and nonsense of who is better or who is not - stops; we all have much more to loose, rather than moving productively forward.

Regards…

Please do not try and say I am not for mentoring .
I am a prime example how well it works .
I did 100~ inspections with my son and two Inspections with other HIs.
When I went out on my own I charged more then any other HI in my area and still do.
We get more inspections then we want.
I have posted my thoughts on this many times ,yes it worked well for me.

So glad you are getting the message tell it like it is to me it is just another one of a continuing going to be great .
Remember this is my home and you and your group are trying to Con
( My openion ) the NACHI membership!!!

so what, with the requirements. The designation is there. When will you guys start kicking them fees up?

Ray - The NCA debated this issue very vigorously, but in the end I suggest that legal counsel be enlightened of it as an infringement and challengeable requirement.

James

Put your fees upto $600 and then tell us how you are making out.

I’m not a CMI. I want to see them CMI fees skyrocket.

James we have had a new leader a short time please let him get his feet wet .
There are things in the works and changes could come as soon as it all falls into place.
It started with the Prize,s of the day and more to come .
Thanks for your interest and send any ideas or thoughts to John Please so he can use all thoughts.

Home owners need assurance that inspectors are not convicted fraud artists, thieves, rapist, murderers, et ceteras. I as a home owner would not want any of these types of people in my home for obvious reasons.
