Check the websites of the inspectors that come up on the first page of the google or msn searches you are doing to see if they are NACHI or not.
Hee hee.

CMI’s current requirements are education biased. It is a professional designation that is NOT earned by being in business a number of years, doing a certain number of unsupervised inspections (right or wrong) or committing facts to memory to pass exams. CMI is a professional designation that is earned primarily through education.
I’m not doing searches.
I was at Google advertising (adwords).
The keywords (exactly) “phoenix certified home inspector” was used 50 times, in a two year period.
The keywords (exactly) “phoenix home inspector” was used 1,015 times, in a two year period.
I’m not interested in who’s on first. I’m interested in how many people search for the keyword “certified”, which is very few.
When you combine “home inspector” with the word “certified” of course the relevancy will be high, because “home inspector” relevancy is high, not “certified”.
“Used” by whom is the key question of all internet lead generation. Who would particularly want to find inspectors that are certified?
The answer is someone looking for those keywords, which is VERY few people.
If you have a website without the word “certified”, or if you have pay-per-click ads, you will receive more “hits” than one with the word “certified” in it.
“certified” in used very infrequently by anyone doing a major engine (Google, Yahoo) search for an inspector.
Hey you want to see something really funny?
Go to www.alexa.com which ranks website traffic. Type in any website you want into the web search bar. www.certifiedmasterinspector.org gets almost as much traffic (only been up 2 weeks) than scumbag NAHI’s at www.nahi.org 's ENTIRE web site!
Hee hee. www.certifiedmasterinspector.org caught up to scumbag NAHI in 2 weeks despite NAHI having a 15 year head start.
Excuse me, I can’t type, I’ve laughed myself silly.
I would think that most anyone that typed in Portland Home inspector would most likely be aperson in need of a HI.
Very, Very few people that call for HI’s have ever asked if I was Certified, but many have asked if I was licensed.
In colorado its just the reverse people ask if you are certified because there is no licensing.
Typing in these keywords in Google “phoenix certified master home inspectors”
Oh boy! I doubt those keywords would make anyone’s phone ring.
I better shut my mouth, my name will be the next one at the top in a Google search, regarding nothing.
Stinks doesn’t it?
So if your not a member of one of the Org’s you must answer no?
Well, for 399.00 + 175.00 You can not only be certified you can be a “Certified Master Inspector”, at leaste for the time being.
True But i answer yes to certified in many fields (NACHI and CMI) are just two that i wave Proudly!

Not to bust balls and no offense to Brian, I am sure he is a stand up guy doing the best he can under the circumstances, but here is his very first post on NACHI.
The above post was dated May 11th 2006. Is there anyone out there in the real world who believes that Brian has accumulated the necessary requirements for being a CMI? If so Wendy still has a shot at a CMI number under 100.
There is obviously no quality control going on, it is a Certification Mill that requires money only to join, what is next NACHI PHD’s?

You should ask Brian what he did before he started his business. If he had any type of state license they have to have any where from 10 - 100 hours of training per year plus what ever schooling to get the license in the first place. The day i opened my business i already Had more then enough to qualify. Wendy may also qualified.
I was in no way being condescending towards you or anyone else for utilizing the CMI designation. If you took my post that way, I apologize.
I just don’t like the way it’s set up.
Marketing is the name of the game, after all.
Good Point…Lets See…
I had 4,400 hours of Specialized Electrical Training, Well over 400 hours of Specific Home Inspector Training…Just since joining NACHI over 90 hours of training…does the 18 years of In The Field training count for anything…
How about all the hours of teaching Apprentice Classes…no one said all the training had to be Home Inspection Specific…Electrical is part of the industry…and what about those classes I took on Brick Laying and Plumbing and well…you get my point.
Point is…to me it is a marketing title…so it costs $ 175.00…thats less than (1) inspection for a title you will keep for life…so what if eveyone feels it harms the industry…to be honest with you people hire me to me…not my titles…not my certifications…
Am I going to appply for the CMI…sure…what are we talking about…$ 175.00 bucks…Pocket Change in the long run…no annual fee…another listing ONLINE on another website…that alone could cover it…
Also…who is to say the board does not TIGHTEN up on the requirements AFTER a certain date…why not get in now…
Personally…if someone gets CMI and they did not earn it…THEY are the ones who have to sleep with it at night…but I don’t happen to have a problem with it…
Heck if you asked me…I would say let the States DUMP their program and go with the CMI program…trust me the states have no more control over who lies than the CMI would…and the state does no background check to boot.
Anyway…is it a marketing scam…well for $ 175.00…who really cares…Personally…if you want the CMI title and it means something to you and YOU know you earned it…get it…enjoy it…Use it…
Just my opinion…
Damn… My lip is bleeding from biting it to keep my mouth (fingers in this case) shut.
OH MY GOSH! I must be in a good mood Joseph because you started me giggling with that post like you would not believe!
Either that or I’m starting to be an old faar…timer and don’t mind being the butt of jokes anymore than the next guy. LOL!
I think I may just have enough to qualify for CMI. I think I’ll go visit a
Notary… ;D
John…are you not entitled to your opinion…NO need to bit your lip…Voice your opinion…
To me…Personally I just dont care…get it if they want…everyone has the right to their opinion…
As for harming the industry…I think NAHI does a fine job of doing that themselves…
