CMI requirements compared to other inspection association's in DORA Industry Review.

Then what is the gauge we should go by as to what things work and what doesn’t?

CMI works, if your area and REA’s understand, and demand the best. Not so in many areas, including mine.

I was just talking to Dan Bowers this morning. He had one of these yesterday also. I had a buyer call me for a quote on a home inspection. Four bedrooms, three baths, two car garage, 2,400 sq. ft. I quoted him $375, including termite. Add radon for $125, since he requested it also. I told him the total inspection would be $500, and that is with the services of myself, a certified master inspector. Told him about that, my web site, and he said that he could get it all done for $300. I told him good luck. He hung up. True story, just happened this morning.

Here in KC, it is only about price; not qualifications. Until a major lawsuit gets media attention, this will never change here. I have talked to several REA’s, brokers, delivered thousands of CMI brochures, and the REA’s here are not getting it.

Please do not become a CMI , I am sure if there are CMIs in your area they will be glad .
As you said you do not want any more business then Be satisfied .

Me I liked the work less and still make what I needed to make .

What make a CMI any better than myself or any of the rest of us lowly CPI’s ? Another label…logo ?
I see it as another income source for Nick. Don’t get me wrong! I don’t have a problem with that. Nope!

CMI doesn’t make you better than any other inspector. It’s an inanimate series of words that merely acknowledge who you already are. Education, training, and experience makes you a better inspector.

If you think that becoming a CMI will make you a better inspector, you are wrong.

I’m not …However, I’m just trying to figure out the financial logic behind this.
It make no financial sense to me. All I’ve heard is lip service about it so far.

I doubt that very seriously because I’m good. Maybe even Great! LOL:D

You have been on this Board for a few years .

How many of those who are a CMI have you seen say it was a bad investment .

Silence isn’t necessarily golden.

People seldom talk abut how they wasted money.

Is CMI a waste?

Eye of the beholder I suppose.

Nick has a money back guarantee for all new CMIs how can you loose

$2,500 fee ! Thats crazy !
My Florida state license is all I need.
I tell potential clients I’m a state licensed HI and state licensed contractor. To me that means more that being a CMI.
As a matter of fact I don’t really know why I should keep my NACHI membership which is due in the next 30 days.
Basically all I do play here on the MB.
I get my CEU for HI when I get them for my contractor license. It is combined for $99.

A CMI is a great marketing tool and does produce more inspections on average. When they get your card from the real estate office or go online to find an inspector they see the words and are drawn to them. In turn, you get more phone calls and more inspections. You may be a better inspector then me with more years of experience, more education… but I am a Certified Master inspector. It does work and I will continue to use my designation for more work.

Your choice if you leave Remember me, I love to talk send me email I have free phone .

All the best one Roy to another . Roy

More lip service !

Give me an actual example.

How in the world could you know this to be true?

Prove it to me and all the rest of us CPI’s.

Thank you Roy it has always been a great pleasure talking to you,

Roy Lewis

I’d be happy to prove it to you. I’ll give you the same deal I offered Jeff. Keep your money until CMI pays for itself. Then the rest that CMI continuously makes you, year after year, is yours to keep forever.

I’m so certain that CMI will make you tons of money, I’m willing to put up my money to prove it.

Thanks Nick
I truly don’t need any other marketing concept to have to incorporate into my business at this time.
Secondly, I never owe anyone any money for anything if I can help it.
I don’t owe anything and have been that way for many years. Even my home is paid for.

Thanks for your offer, but $2500 is out of line IMHO.

But you don’t owe me a penny unless it pays for itself in less than a year and makes YOU money. That’s not debt.

How would I know if it was the thing that was paying off and not some other of my marketing tools?

Simply ask your clients why they hired you? See how many mention CMI.

If it does not make you extra money, you have lost nothing. If it makes you
money then you win. How can you lose? It pays for itself or you lose nothing.
