Randy, If you don’t mind a much longer cord a computer power cord will fit perfectly into the sure test. They are readily avaiable for very little cost.

I tried that Paul. But I keep getting a loose connection. I checked the units prongs and they seem fine. But I have to wiggle the cord to get a reading. Then I have to hold it at the exact postion to get a reading.

They sell the short cords. About 2 years ago a bunch of us wanted them for our SureTests (great device but too big too carry with you all through the house). We called the mfg and he sent us 10 of them - fairly cheaply.

Randy,
Might be a design flaw. Mine is doing the exact same thing. I have a short cord and a long cord and both have to be jockeyed around to make a good connection. I did a “visual inspection” of the solders on the back side of the coupling and they are solid so I think it may be something to do with the pins. If you have a phone number to call Ideal pass it along cause it is beginning to irrate me to no end. Thanks

Paul,
Thanks for the number. I agree. It it had the cord hardwired you could just add a short extention cord to do the outlets hidden in cabinets and down low so you wouldn’t have to stand on your head to read it.
