Here is the vent for the tankless water heater. What do you see? What comments would you make?
Looks to me like he lost the manufactures instructions .
I sure would not want this amateur installation in my home .
Please specify Roy. This is a teaching thread. Thank you.
There should be an upward pitch not a downward pitch as it appears in this foto. But 2 points for that installer for not cutting out that support beam to make it have an upward pitch. Must ve had some knowledge i assume
Is that even Schedule 40? Looks like thinner wall drainage pipe PVC to me.

Sorry.
Looks like wrong slope fore vent should be 1/4 inch per foot up to out side .
Is it approved gas vent pipe??? no printing visible
Looks like wrong glue good installer’s use blue cleaner then glue .
Should have mounted heater lower to get proper vent slope.
Would like to see a pipe support .
Not sure of the outside does it exhaust to close to a window ???
just another halfast install that requires immediate reorientation for proper vent function to avoid CO poisoning occupants
ubbink rolux vent system
Horizontal Termination Installations
A condensate collector MUST be installed on the vent system for any horizontal
termination with a total vertical rise greater than 5 feet. (1,5 m)
Slope horizontal venting 1/4 inch per foot (25 mm/m) either toward the appliance with a
condensate collector or toward the exhaust terminal
(Ubbink prefers pitching the vent
1/4 inch per foot (25mm/m) towards the appliance with a condensate collector).
If a condensate collector is NOT used for horizontal terminations, it is permitted to pitch
the vent 1/4 inch per foot (25 mm/m)** toward the termination under the following**
conditions:
If the water heater is in that little closet, the pitch is most certainly improper. In addition, the connections are of an improper orientation - female connection should be toward the appliance.
I don’t see many tankless heaters with PVC vents, so I would be looking to verify the proper vent-materials. Most of the one’s I see are stainless vents, although I have seen a few that allow PVC.
Now i can take measurement by myself.
