The forum system has interactive tutorials. To access them, you need to send a message to @discobot
In the body of the message include either “@discobot start new user” or “@discobot start advanced user” without the quotes.

I’ve looked high and low and cannot find how to send a message.

Sure.
Click on your face at the top right of the blue forum menu-bar. In the drop-down, you will see an envelope icon. Clicking on that will take you to messages. Type @discobot in the to address and either “@discobot start new user” or “@discobot start advanced user” without the quotes, in the body. I don’t think it matters what you put in the subject line, but you have to put something there. Then hit send and wait for the reply.

This should not be this difficult.
I click on the envelop, it takes me to the messages.
But nowhere, that i can find, is there a “button, icon etc” to compose a message.

It must be a trust level issue. You should get access once you move up a trust level.
You’re correct in that it shouldn’t be that hard. New users are supposed to receive a welcome message which will get them to the basic tutorial, however that doesn’t seem to be occurring here, possibly because they disabled it or perhaps because the accounts were migrated, not sure. You may want to post on the forum feedback topic.
Once you have the ability to send messages, you can message @discobot.
If you click on the @discobot in this message, do you get this popup and does it contain a message button?

Just wanted to let you all know, after liking a few posts and wishing a couple of “happy birthdays”, I am now able to send “NEW” messages.
I’ll be reading/watching the tutorials you guys provided to find some other things out.
It must be me. Clearly written instructions would make the process much easier.
