Not if you buy a decent firearm. None of the major brands will fire on impact. Maybe a Miami Firearms or Joe Blow’s Gun Co.
It is possible for certain semiautomatic pistols to discharge when dropped, especially pre WW2 pistols and of course some cheap imports. It is called inertia discharge. Most modern Semiautomatics use stiffer springs if the firing pin is floating to minimize this along with safeties that block the firing pin.
If you carry “cocked and locked” the odds of accidental discharge, if dropped, is near zero.
My bride likes to carry in her purse, so I got her this. Always ready, just pull the trigger-even through the purse!
Both great guns!
Lots of Glocks in the house and Sig P365 or .38spl for CCW.
The Byrna launchers are great and Florida allows tear gas ammo. No license required.
If you look at the internals of a Sig p365 you’ll see although its advertised or appears to not have a safety, it has an internal safety that requires the trigger to physically be pulled. The Glock 19 is similar. Its had thousands of tests if not more of impact testing. Before many law enforcement used it, they did large scale drop tests from hundreds of feet.
As for appendix carry… It’s quite common, easy to conceal, and comfortable for many, but not all. Additionally within a hard holster, like kydex, there is no physical way for the trigger to be pulled if made by a reputable company. Soft holsters are not recommended by nearly anyone that carries seriously.
Here in Florida everyone is carrying… Played poker with a guy who was always displaying his glock quick-draw skills till he blew out the back of his leg, he still carries, but he’s stopped showing off his quick draw. Anyway I stopped carrying chambered after that.
I’m an NRA Instructor. At no point in time would anyone call it “useless” unless the person doesn’t train that way. I always train un-chambered for IWB carry and chambered for OWB carry, therefore, I’m trained to react appropriately based on my setup for that day. Some people think you must carry chambered because they have only ever trained that way (and probably have had people tell them that). How you train determines how you’ll react and perform.
I could shoot you faster with one in the chamber .
Yikes. Threats AND bad information. You’re really knocking it out of the park today!
What is the world are you referring to?
He’s only been here three weeks. He’s trying to fit in… and failing miserably!
So you can draw, AND chamber before someone else gets a shot off??
That’s impressive!
What if you only have one hand available?
Does anyone not carry???
Hawaii, D.C., California, New York, New Jersey… These states make the concealed carry process extremely difficult for their citizens.
You forgot Ilinois.
Not to mention the early SIG 320 models. They were notorious for unintentional discharges.
