My commercial Insurance agent mentioned to me about a need on occasion for an inspector to do short "simple" inspections for the insurance world. I have started digging around to look into this and found a company "Seek now" that uses subcontracted inspectors. I have reached out to them for more details regarding this line of work. I see they would prefer HAAG certification and I reached out to HAAG and discovered this is a fairly simple 16-hour online course. So I think it might be worth adding to my certifications.
I also wanted to reach out to you all and see if any of you have done this as part of your business building and how did it go?
Are there other companies or opportunities like this?
Are there Internachi based certifications that open doors like this as well to widen the pool of business options?
As usual I appreciate all your input. Have a great week.
Yeah that is weird. I’ve never had that weird format show up before.
the way my agent described the “inspections” they are for insurance companies to get data before they insure a property.
Others seem to be evaluating damages for claims but just from a data collection stand point not being the guy who adjusts how much gets paid out during a claim. It seems companies may use independent inspectors to confirm damages.
In Florida (and some other locales) those are common for residential, and go by names such 4-point, or 5-point, and they are interested in specific, defined critical areas.
Some carriers have a process or protocol, others just want data, you’ll need to confirm what the underwriter or company is expecting. Most are more like surveys than inspections.
They are generally called “Field Inspections.” Unless it is some kind of last minute deal they don’t typically pay very much. They can be weather related damage assessments, or simple Occupancy inspections. They may be conducted by a Bank or Insurance Company.
