I haven’t seen or installed a exterior door with a flange.

I just installed a Pella. it was a sliding door but still an exterior door with a flange.

I do believe you are correct on a swing door however…shrug.

Looks like they do make one. As long as you are putting it on a machine shed.

You know, as I think back building Habitat For Humanity homes, I believe I remember installing some exterior swing doors with flanges.

There aren’t many out there that is for sure.

For the PNW, it is common place to have a header flange on an exterior door, even with an overhead porch. It is pretty much expected now with new builds on all doors and windows.

It been years since I’ve installed a residential exterior door, but I never have seen a pre-hung swing door with a flange on the jamb either. They were all just a door screwed to a jamb at the hinges and a brad nail or tape to hold it together on the latch side. Many had an incorporated threshold, but many did not. Those without a threshold were a PIA… Now I have installed vinyl framed sliders that did have flanges, however…..

Then again, the times they are a changing…… :man_shrugging:

I have seen them in sheds and shops, etc. The doors were thin and swung out.

Yeah me neither. Like Larry said, sliding patio doors sure. Regular entry doors never. They usually have “brickmould” pre-installed, some with a gasket attached.
