Drain DWV. No P trap

Has anyone seen a drain like this before with no visible P trap?

It is a bit more complicated. The inspector will need to make the call. Here is a good article.

Bottle trap as others said.
But you can complain about the lack of drywall or other fire seal behind the badly fitting escutcheon. Fire can get into that wall through such a hole.
