So i found this today and I’ve never seen it before. Can anyone help me identify it?
From here it looks like sap. When the attic gets really hot, the sap cooks out of the lumber, primarily the rafters, not the joists.
was the attic poorly ventilated? Does it get very hot in the summer where you are located?
